Ethics is the basic curriculum that prepares residents to understand clinical ethics dilemmas and to interact in a principled fashion with patients, family members and other health professionals. It also provides key concepts and terms that reflect the present organization of American health care and help to chart the allocation and rationing of scarce resources.
The laboratory management rotation provides an overview of administrative activities within a typical laboratory: operational models, regulatory issues and accredidation, financial budgeting, human resource management and informatics.
